This is a student project turned into real (soon). Crick-Itz is a sustainable snack product using crickets as a source of protein. The whole idea of this branding is to make these crickets, which frankly are not the most attractive things, into a product that's approachable and friendly. The main way of doing that with branding was being honest and accepting that these products are in-fact made out of bugs. There are references to the crickets themselves throughout the branding, but is approached in a illustrative way. Bugs are not what people want to see (especially in a Western market) on their food products. The cricket motifs had to be relatively cute and simple. The packaging and slogan lends itself to the actual nutritional value of the product itself. It is jammed packed with protein for 10 small crackers, and I really wanted to emphasize that in the branding. The product packaging itself is 2"x1.75"x1.75" and smaller than a business card. It includes a small window to see the crackers themselves, staying true to the realness of the product itself. The small snack sized boxes are packed in a box, reminiscent of cricket boxes.
